Hey, we're Jon and Gabrielle. A few years ago we couldn't find a clean daily balm we trusted on our own skin, so Gabrielle started whipping her own in our kitchen from ingredients we could actually pronounce. Friends kept asking for jars, and Ritual Organics was born.

Frequently asked questions

Will it leave a white cast?

Not when you rub it in. The non-nano zinc is whipped into the balm so it melts into skin instead of sitting on top. Work it in fully and you get the protection without the ghost face.

Will it break me out?

Tallow has a lipid profile close to human skin, which is why it tends to sit well even on acne-prone skin. Every ingredient in it is non-comedogenic.

If a tallow product has broken you out before, it was likely a heavier one. Ours is whipped, so a small amount spreads thin and absorbs instead of sitting on top.

Is it safe for my kids?

Six ingredients, no synthetic fragrance, no chemical UV filters, no preservatives. Plenty of parents in our community use it on their kids, faces included.

We're not doctors, so check with your pediatrician and patch test a small area first.

I react to regular sunscreen. Will this be different?

How long does a jar last?

Is this for everyday wear or for the beach?

Everyday wear. Face and neck, every morning. Jon wears it for an hour and a half of surfing.

For a full day at peak sun on the beach, we'd still put a heavier sport product with a tested rating over the top of it. We'd rather tell you that than oversell this.

Does it work on deeper skin tones?

Mostly yes. Around nine in ten people who've told us about it have had no white cast, and a handful have.
