When is a brand collab more than a brand collab?

We teamed up with the incredible Katie Uyeda and her blog A Space to Sow to create something really special.

One of the best parts of building a brand is doing it with people you love. To celebrate our friendship and the release of Katie's new poetry book Letters From the Shore, we brought our brands and creativity together to make something truly special. 

We started this little brand Ritual Organics from the North Shore of Oahu, and serendipitously, much of Katie’s inspiration for the poems in her new book were birthed in the midst of the North Shore’s outrageous beauty.

We want our brand to represent more than just the products we share with people. We want it to reflect our love for people and our friends. This shirt and its design (mostly Katie’s genius) is a poignant example of that.

It’s printed on organic cotton shirts (obviously) with a delightfully boxy/ modern streetwear fit.

To me (Jon), it evokes the slow, un-flashy journey (ritual) of investing in the things that last. Family, great friendships, our work as creatives, and business.

Meet the founders

Still just the two of us.

Hey, we're Jon and Gabrielle. A few years ago we couldn't find a clean daily balm we trusted on our own skin, so Gabrielle started whipping her own in our kitchen from ingredients we could actually pronounce. Friends kept asking for jars, and Ritual Organics was born.

It's still just the two of us. We live on the North Shore of Oahu, spend most of our days outside, and read every review and answer every email ourselves. Thanks for being here.

Will it leave a white cast?

Not when you rub it in. The non-nano zinc is whipped into the balm so it melts into skin instead of sitting on top. Work it in fully and you get the protection without the ghost face.

What does it smell like?

Not like tallow, we promise. The scent comes entirely from organic lavender oil: soft, natural, and light. No synthetic fragrance, nothing perfumey, and it fades as it absorbs.

Who is it for?

All skin types, including sensitive skin and kids. Six ingredients, no synthetic fragrance, and no endocrine disruptors.

Does it sting your eyes when you sweat?

No. There are no chemical UV filters, which are usually what makes conventional sunscreen burn. It's just grass-fed tallow, non-nano zinc, and organic oils.
